Get to Know Bryan Salminen!

Meet Vantage Counseling’s very own Bryan Salminen!

Bryan works with individuals, couples, and families, helping clients navigate life’s challenges with compassion, understanding, and practical support. We sat down with Bryan and asked him three questions that offer a deeper look into who he is, what guides his work, and how he helps clients heal.

Q: How long have you been with Vantage, and how long have you been in practice?
A: I have been with Vantage/Healing Place for more than five years and have been in practice for 40 years.

Q: What do you hope clients experience during their first session with you?
A: Hope. Hope changes everything.

During our first meeting, I want to connect with each client and build a trusting, healing relationship. When someone leaves that first session, I want them to have a sense of hope that maybe, just maybe, life can get better.

Hope can sound simple, even “chirpy,” but it’s much more than optimism. It’s grounded in a transcendent reality that life is moving in a direction.

Q: You work with individuals, couples, and families. What do you enjoy most about working with such a diverse range of clients?
A: Working with a variety of age groups brings diversity, novelty, and challenge to my practice. I remind all my clients that each person is a unique, unrepeatable miracle of God, and I need to remind myself of that truth as I get to know them in all of their wonder and uniqueness.

Q: How would you describe your counseling philosophy, and what guides your approach to helping clients?
A: My primary orientation is based on Family Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I integrate these approaches into who I am as a person, therapist, pastor, husband, dad, and grandpa, using them to connect with clients and help them achieve their goals.

I am also a Lutheran pastor and a Bible-believing Christian. If a client is open to a Christ-centered worldview, I am grateful for the opportunity to incorporate Christ-centered resources alongside the counseling process to support their growth.

If you’re looking for a counselor who brings decades of experience, compassionate care, and a hope-centered approach to healing, Bryan would be honored to walk alongside you. To learn more about Bryan or to schedule an appointment, click here.
